Our history
In 1990, the company Bambuparque, an offshoot of the famous "La Bambouseraie" in Anduze, began its activity in the Alentejo region, specifically in São Teotónio, southern Portugal, to cultivate and produce bamboo of tropical and temperate climates. It started its activity with over 100 varieties on more than 100 hectares of available land on the estate; currently, the collection includes over 240 species of bamboo.
To this location, Yves Crouzet chose for its high energy potential and the quality of its landscapes, the magic of bamboo was added. In 2010, Yves exchanged his lands in the Cévennes for those in the Alentejo, becoming permanently present in the park.
Currently, it is an independent nursery and has two managers, Yves Crouzet and Akash Thapaliya. New projects, products, and training programs have been implemented, which arose from the integration as a partner of Akash Thapaliya, who added knowledge and modernization in various areas.
We have also expanded horizons and opened a second exploration in the municipality of Castelo Branco, in the quiet region of Vila Velha de Rodão, where we are starting bamboo production as a complement to the south.

Our Production
Our main activity continues to be the production of potted plants that can be planted at any time of the year, with nearly a hundred species and varieties listed in our catalog.
We also sell bamboo canes mainly used for crafts, decoration, and construction. Bamboo foliage is an essential food for pandas, and we regularly supply the Madrid Zoo to support the survival of animals that have come from China. We have started to produce and market three bamboo-derived products using techniques commonly used in Asia: Takesumi (bamboo activated charcoal), Chikusaku (bamboo extract), and Take Haidorozoru (bamboo hydrolate). Additionally, we have initiated training sessions and retreats in various languages.
Our Customers
Our customers are primarily professionals (nurseries, gardeners, builders), but we also serve individuals. We have a retail store open to the public at our facilities in São Teotónio and a partnership with carriers to deliver our products to you.
Environmental Respect
We are driven by a genuine concern for environmental respect and protection. We participate annually in congresses on climate and ecological solutions, where we emphasize the importance of bamboo as an environmental solution. As such, we benefit from international recognition from MPS.
